Enjoy!
So our new music blog is finally up and running! Every week we will be giving you a taste of a new unsigned band to try to reinforce our aim of promoting unsigned and young musicians. The first one is up, and what better way to start than with the amazing and rather fitting Missed You At The Show. Check out the Music Blog page for a glimpse of what these guys offer, including their music video, biography and links to where you can get their music!
Let’s Rock Cancera re so proud to announce that our new promotional video is finally finished!
Know Media have been working hard, filming interviews with Dr Anne Moore from Lindsey Lodge Hospice, Kirsty Redding from The Lincoln Imp, Charity representatives and gig footage to produce this wonderful film for us that we can use to introduce new people to Let’s Rock Cancer!
Take a look and be amazed!
Our second annual Winter Ball was an amazing success again this year. Over 80 people graced us with their presence in their finest attire on Saturday at the Sergeant Suite at the Wortley House Hotel. Battle of the Bands winners Missed You At The Show and runner up Lizzie Goddard graced the stage to please the crowd, who were blown away by both acts. So many nice things have been said about them, they deserve every word. We also premiered the new Let’s Rock Cancer promo video which will be online very soon! The round of applause it recieved afterwards solidified the work that Know Media have done for Let’s Rock Cancer in the last few months.
Now to the bit you have all been waiting for, if you missed the opportunity to be there on Saturday, he is the amount of finds we have been raising…
In total, through all events in 2011 and ticket profits from the Winter Ball, we made an amazing £1775.34. This added with the total of £614.20 which we made on the charity auction and raffle on the night, this comes to a great £2389.54 for our fund for 2011 which will be split between the four charities we raise money for.
This added to what we have raised previous brings the grand total of everything we have raised for charity to £5940.22!!
We know look forward to 2012 and another year of raising funds for our charities and celebrating our fifth year of Let’s Rock Cancer. Our next gig is on the 18th February at the Lincoln Imp in Scunthorpe with Dynamite Dynamite and No Contest.
We have just secured two tickets for to see the amazing John Bishop, stand up comedian from the tele!! They are for his next tour in October at the Sheffield Motorpoint Arena. These will be auctioned to the highest bidder at the Let’s Rock Cancer Winter Ball’s charity auction on the 28th January.
This adds to the long list of amazing auction items and raffle prizes which have kindly been donated for the Winter Ball. To have a sneak peak at the latest list, click on the Winter Ball page and there is the full list.
We will see you all at the ball! More news about the next few gigs coming very soon.
Unfortunately now we have passed the closing date for tickets for the Winter Ball which closed on Monday 9th January. We have a nice long list of people coming along to this year’s Winter Ball, we hope you got your name down and will see you all there on the 28th. We have updated the Winter Ball page with all the latest auction items and raffle prizes which will be on offer at the ball.
In other news, we will very soon be announcing our first two gigs of 2012, and are hard working on the rest of the year too. We have lots of great plans for you this year, so keep checking back.
For now, I will leave you with a tantalizing preview of what is in store at the Winter Ball this year!!
A good friend, James, is taking part in a 100km midnight bikeride in London on the 9th June 2012 in support of the Anthony Nolan Trust who helped him find a suitable donor for his transplants.
If you’d like to support this cause/charity and sponsor James on this cycle then please text:
OBQH60 followed by the amount you’d like to donate to 70070. The Let’s Rock Cancer team send all our support to James and wish him the best of luck, please make a donation if you can and help such a worthy cause!
Thanks x
We hope that everyone has had a nice Christmas and are looking forward to the New Year and what it may bring. Let’s Rock Cancer would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has helped Let’s Rock Cancer in 2011, it’s been an amazing year and we hope to only improve in 2012. Some highlights of 2011 include our first ever Winter Ball, perhaps our most interesting Battle of the Bands to date, touring bands from America, the chance to host the Rock n Roll Circus tour on two separate occasions in both Scunthorpe and Manchester and the recording of our first ever promotional video.
We look forward to celebrating all these achievements at our annual Winter Ball and the first event in 2012 on the 28th January at the Wortley House Hotel in Scunthorpe. There is still time to get your tickets for what promises to be a spectacular event with live music from Missed You At The Show and Lizzie Goddard, as well as a three course meal, charity auction and raffle and the premiere of our new promotional video. Deadline for RSVPs is the 9th January, if your interested please click on the Winter Ball link on the right hand side and follow the instructions to download your RSVP and come along to celebrate how much we have raised for our charities this year.
Looking forward to 2012, we already have some great stuff planned for you guys. In February and March we will be bringing in great live acts from outside the area and putting them alongside your favourite local acts at our monthly shows at the Lincoln Imp in Scunthorpe. More information coming very shortly, including information on how you can get into our shows for cheaper! In addition to this we are organising something big this Summer with Brigg Music Club, Brigg will not know what has hit it! As well as this we will be celebrating five years of Let’s Rock Cancer, and our fifth annual Battle of the Bands competition which will be expanding to include more venues in the area. Finally we would like to welcome a fifth charity to our roster, we are hoping to organise something special later in the year to raise money for the Prostate Cancer Charity, a charity which has sadly come close to our attentions recently. More information on this later in the year.
We wish you all a Happy New Year and we will catch you in 2012 at one of our events.
